"I became a child liaison because I truly believe in the mission of Guardians of the Children. For me, it’s showing up and thinking only of those children affected by abuse and neglect. I grew up in the inner city of Chicago. There were so many kids without stable family lives with almost no support system. I want to be part of an organization that gives these types of children hope. I want to offer them as much stability as possible. When we provide experiences that they would otherwise not have such as Pit racing, climbing courses, canoeing and shopping for new school clothes , it’s opening up their world to new possibilities. It’s showing them the world is not full of people who want to harm them, but to help them."
